Volunteering

Crosspoint is run entirely by volunteers; we have no paid staff. We would be unable to offer any services to our local community if it were not for the dedication and commitment of our volunteers.

We are always looking for new people to join the team who staff our drop-in sessions.

In particular, we are looking for people who:

  • Have good listening skills

  • Are non-judgmental

  • Can communicate easily with people from all backgrounds

  • Are able to help clients use the computer for internet searches, job applications and completing online forms

We also need volunteers who will help with:

  • Fundraising

  • Managing our social media accounts.

In return, we can offer you a worthwhile volunteering opportunity as part of a friendly team.

Our volunteer training sessions have been on hold during the pandemic, but we have further sessions planned over the forthcoming months.

All volunteers are asked to complete an application form, provide two referees and attend a short interview with two of the Trustees. If accepted as a volunteer for our drop-in sessions, you will have a minimum of two shadowing sessions with other members of the team before fully taking up the role.

Please contact us if you are interested in finding out more by sending us an email, leaving a phone message, or calling in during one of our drop-in sessions.

Alternatively, please download our Volunteer Application Form and email the completed form to us at info@crosspoint-westbury.co.uk.

Donations

We rely on donations and grants to provide the income needed to run our services.

Individuals/families

Are you able to provide a one-off or regular financial donation to help us support some of the most needy people within our community?

It is very easy to set up a standing order with your bank to give us the much-needed funds to help us to continue.

Please think of Crosspoint if you are writing or updating your Last Will and Testament. Leaving a legacy to Crosspoint is a lasting memorial which can make a difference to a huge number of people. Your solicitor will be able to advise you.

For further details please email info@crosspoint-westbury.co.uk, leave a phone message, speak to one of our volunteers or leave a donation at Crosspoint.

Local organisations

We all have the interests of our local residents at heart and know how important it is to be part of a happy and thriving community.

If your organisation is able to raise funds to support us, it would be greatly appreciated.

Local businesses

Does your business support charity through adopting a Charity of the Year? ….or do you have a Social Responsibility programme or charitable arm whereby you would be able to support Crosspoint?

We would be pleased to come and talk to you to discuss this further and ensure that your business is promoted through your fundraising efforts.

Fundraise

  • Are you running a marathon or doing a fun run this year?

  • How about a sponsored silence (your friends may be very pleased!)?

  • Do you have the skills to organise an event?

  • Calling all bakers! Would you hold a cake sale?

All these are great ways for raise funds, and we can provide you with collecting tins and Gift Aid forms to help your fundraising.

Food donations

We are pleased to be able to accept donations of food during our drop-in sessions on behalf of the Food Bank which is run by Westbury Area Network.

The types of food that are particularly welcome are:

  • Pasta and rice

  • Pasta sauces

  • Tinned foods of all types – meat, fish, vegetables, soup or fruit.

  • Long life milk

  • Boxes of cereal

  • Sweet treats – biscuits and chocolate

  • Toiletries, toilet rolls and sanitary products are also much needed.

Grants

We work with many grant awarding bodies that enable us to provide these services to the local community. We would like to thank all of you that have provided funding to Crosspoint in the past and in the future.
